Who is Jack?

Jack Ansell is a progressive acoustic guitarist in Dallas, Tx blending the raw sound of bluegrass with the improvisational spirit of jazz. Inspired by the likes of Tony Rice and David Grisman, Jack’s playing is rooted and restless — grounded in tradition but always reaching forward. As a performer, Jack has carved out a space that’s as comfortable on a front porch as it is on a festival stage.

With years of experience on stage and in the studio, Jack is a versatile player available for live shows, recording sessions, private events, and collaborative projects.

While in the studio, Jack produces all kinds of sounds from bluegrass to 1970’s pop he releases under the moniker “Ned Doon.” In 2023, Ned had a single “Purpose” air on the radio through KXT 91.7 for DFW.

Acoustic music is something Jack has never been able to quiet. Every note picked, every chord voiced is part of something being shared between players and the listener. Acoustic music isn’t about volume — it’s about presence. It breaths in the quiet, leans in the close, and tells the truth with wood, wire, and intuition. Whether it’s a fiddle tune, jazz ballad, or a driving flatpick groove, Jack plays with the intention to connect — not to impress, but to communicate.
